Environmental Decision Analysis for Nanoparticles

Leader: Yoram Cohen

Theme 6 research has focused on the development of rigorous approaches to integrate knowledge regarding bio-activity, environmental distribution of engineered nanomaterials (ENMs), and environmental impact assessment (EIA). Accordingly, to support decisions making regarding safe design and use of ENMs, Theme 6 has developed Bayesian Network support tools aimed at:

(a) rapid assessment of the multimedia distribution of ENMs and associated exposure concentrations and mapping causal relationship;

(b) screening the readiness of available data/information for comprehensive EIA;

(c) evaluating the body of published evidence (meta-analysis) of cellular toxicity.

In addition, Theme 6 has also developed a new web-based data/information management system, along with dynamic meta-data construction and intelligent query.
