Center-wide Synergistic Activities
The Education and Outreach division of the UC CEIN fosters interaction between the Center’s seven Interdisciplinary Research Groups (IRGs) by hosting interdisciplinary working groups, sponsoring seminars and courses at UCLA and UCSB, and organizing a Student/Postdoc Advsory Committee (SPAC).
During the current academic year the Center and the CNSI co-sponsor these seminar speakers at UCLA:
Dr. Paul Schulte (NIOSH)
Dr. Su-Jung Tsai (University of Massachusetts - Lowell)
Dr. Jacqueline Isaacs (Northeastern University)
Dr. Piotr Grodzinski (NCI Alliance for Nanotechnology in Cancer)
Dr. Mark Hersam (Northwestern University)

During academic year 2009-2010, the Center co-sponsored three seminar speakers with the CNSI at UCLA:
Dr. Vincent Castranova (NIOSH),
Dr. Robert Tanguay (Oregon State University)
Dr. Donald Tomalia (Central Michigan University)
and sponsored Dr. Steven Kaine (Clemson University) at UCSB. Click here for talk abstracts.
Student/Postdoc Advisory Committee (SPAC) meets twice a year and assists Education/Outreach in planning Center-sponsored educational, leadership, and training activities, such as presentation skills workshops and day-long professional development and leadership-building activities. All SPAC-sponsored activities are open to all Center-supported students and postdoctoral fellows.
